Alias Trace and Search

This Search is critical in the verification of identity, including established aliases, or alternative names used by the applicant. Any names discovered through the tracing process can then be used when searching other databases and information sources. This ensures that as complete a record as possible can be compiled.
PPSL are the only organisation in New Zealand to verify identity via up to 5 independent data sources. Where possible, we will ascertain maiden names and any other aliases not disclosed by the applicant.
This is the cornerstone of effective pre employment screening and should be undertaken in every instance.

Credit History Examination

A credit report helps form a picture of a candidates’ sense of responsibility towards financial obligations and whether they represent a potential financial risk. These checks are useful if the position involves managing a budget, using company credit cards or handling cash. Computer programmers involved with development or maintenance of finance and accounting software should also be reviewed. Credit reports provide details on collection act or adverse Public Notices which pertain to the applicant.

Company Directory Search

These searches assist in establishing if the candidate has an interest in any businesses that may conflict with the interests of your company. A company credit report reviews the financial history of that company and whether it has satisfied its financial obligations to others.

Criminal Records Search

This is recommended on all applicants. This search notifies of any criminal records for offences in New Zealand. The details include records of time spent on prison, outstanding warrants for arrest and court orders. Act of violence, dishonesty, sexual offences and drug convictions may preclude the applicant from employment depending on the position sought.

Driving Licence and Record Search

This search obtains the candidates driving record from the Land Transport Safety Authority. It includes all records of motor vehicle offences, outstanding fines and demerit points as well as verifying the classes of licence held by the candidate.

Educational Verification

This Search verifies the qualification conferred by an educational institution to the individual and the dates of attendance at that institution.

Immigration and Work Permit Verification

This search component confirms whether a candidate is legally permitted to work in New Zealand and the dates to which their permit applies.

This request prompts a contact to previous employers to provide information relating to the employment position held, dates of employment, performance while employed, reason for leaving, and re-hire suitability.

Employment Court Judgments

We investigate whether an individual has made a personal grievance claim or been the subject of a personal grievance claim through the records of the employment relations authority, the employment court or the employment tribunal and employment relations authority records from 1987 in relation to personal grievances.

Reference Checks

If this option is selected we will contact and interview previous employers on your behalf to question the referees provided by the candidate. We verify the details provided by the applicant regarding position held and length of service. We will note the referees responses to the questions regarding the candidates honesty, integrity and reliability including amongst other things.

Verification and Professional Licences

This provides verification of professional licences, trade certificates held or memberships to industry organisations in fields such as accountancy associations, medical or legal associations or building, electrical and plumbing associations.

Drug Testing

Drug testing has become an important safety issue in the workplace for human resources and occupational safety and health professionals. The purpose is to lessen the impact from drug abuse in the workplace and thereby protect the safety of the individuals concerned, their co-workers and that of the general public.

International Screening

With our extensive network of contacts, we are able to source background information on candidates from throughout the world.
Many New Zealanders travel overseas for extended periods. What they have done overseas in terms of their integrity, is just as relevant as for those on whom you complete local checks. For this reason it is important to under take international searches in returned New Zealanders as well as those on work visas and new immigrants.
PPSL are unique in New Zealand as we are the only organisation with an office in the UK registered to access records from Criminal Records bureau and Equifac the UK consumer credit bureau. Coupled with our access to Australian data and information from throughout the world, this has proven exceptionally useful to our clients.
The cost of sourcing information varies between countries so please contact us for details and for correct application forms for each country.
